Show The World You Care And Pick The Appropriate Ladies Dress
posted in Clothing, Shopping, Women |It seems to me that people are having a more difficult time dressing in clothes that are appropriate for the occasion as well as their age. We recently went to a share holder’s dinner for the local hospital. This event includes a dinner as well as an annual report of the hospital’s financial situation. The clothes people chose to wear to this event amazed me. Out of the two hundred people that were in attendance about half were appropriately dressed for the occasion. Several of the women were in outfits that were meant for young girls. Women need to understand that clothing is separated into different sections in stores. There are juniors which is meant for females 19 years of age and under and then the misses section that is meant for woman older than that age group. Ladies dresses are usually in the misses section or in a section of their own.
Ladies dresses are usually in more classic styles. There is a wide selection, but the focus is the fundamentals that can be built on from season to season. Ladies dresses tend to have a modest design that can be worn in a variety of settings. At the share holder’s function there were several women that were over dressed. They had on ladies dresses that were meant for formal or special occasions such as a wedding, opera or formal ball. Others had on casual sweaters and pants. There were even a few people with jeans and sweatshirts on. I believe in everyone being able to express themselves through their clothing choices, but the choices need to fit the function you are attending. The ladies dresses that stood out to me were the ones of simple design that were accented with tasteful accessories. The women wearing these ladies dresses gave off a sense of style and self assurance. The women that were over dressed gave off the impression of being unsure of themselves. The women that were underdressed gave off the impression of not caring.
Many of the observations that I was making during this function based on ladies dresses were assumptions on my part. But this helped me realize how strong of a message we give off to others based on how we choose to dress. When I see a woman that is dressing too young for her age I think that she is desperate of hang on to her youth. I want to point out to her that if she had purchased her dress in the ladies dresses she would portray herself as being comfortable with where she is at in her life. First impressions are long lasting, so it is very important to make sure people are getting a positive one.
